I don't think she got uglier, but I miss the 2P costume from SCII.
But her new leg warmer/sailor girl outfit is cute.

I have the SFII Anniversary Collection and it's easily the most fun I have with fighting games.
Dude, Link was the only reason it sold well on the GameCube. And i'm sure the money lured them in to the PS2 exclusive deal...

I have it. I play it incessantly. Zasalamel is so rigged....scythe is almost as long as Kilik's pole, but he hits for as much damage as the pole and swings like 10 times faster.

But my favorite is Setsuka. Counterattack characters are so much fun.

And actually, the most broken character is the character-creation thief. He has an amazing bomb ranged attack. It's broken beyond all recognition.

I would consider it short sighted not to pick up a game just because it's exclusive.... but hey that's just me.

I enjoy it. I'm not a 2d fighter fan, and SC seems to be the favorite of my non fighter friends. The characters seem to be a bit more balanced, and alot of moves aren't as devastating.... but still look cool.

As a big fan of the female characters I think the body styles are a bit more realistic.... although there is quite a bit of jiggle to them. I haven't checked out the character creation, but there seems to be alot of people who are making some cool designs. The new characters seem to be really cool, I might have a new fave....the girl with the hoop (I forget her name).

Anyhow, I consider this game a good deal as I plan to have many hours of enjoyment on our game nights

Ivy is my fav. I destroy people with her. Why didn't it come out for Xbox? I don't have a PS2.

Cervantes is my favorite. After Cervantes comes Nightmare (or Siegfried whatever the hell is name is, or however you spell it.)

Pirates dominate ninjas.

I'll get them....
I never considered talim overpowered in SC2. Anyone who picked her and fought me would get squished to teeny tiny bits.

The characters i play are Ivy, Xianghua and Mitsurugi.

Anyway...the reason i dislike Talim is because of her character design and overall presentation.

1) Talim means "sharp" in Tagalog (Phillippines), But in of itself, the word Talim is being mispronounced. It should be "Tah-leem" not Taa-lhim". Where as characters like Xianghua and Mitsurugi etc have gotten better pronounciations on their names.

2) There are many native costumes to choose from in the whole South East Asian area, even though they specify the Phillipines as her country of origin. However her outfits are ridiculously non-sensical. Compared to some of the other characters who get some sort of "traditional but extreme" outfit to match their country or area of origin.

3) There are many native martial arts and weapons that are specific to South East Asia, one of the most prominent being the Keris Sword or Kris which is commonly wielded with two hands. Cervantes' style is actually closer to an iconographic southeast asian style than talim. Talim uses bladed tonfas, which do not exist in any form of history. Although there are philippine tonfas (Hawakan), they are a more obscure weapon and more commonly used in Japanese martial arts. And although its origins are debated, one thing i can be certain of is that they were never bladed (Yes...Long/Maxi's nunchukus shouldnt have daggers at the end of them either).

4) In Soul Calibur 2, Talim's face was the MOST cartoony out of all the characters, compare here eyes to all the other characters and you will agree. I have yet to open my copy of SCIII (Theres two copies in this house), because i've been playing burnout: Revenge and um... Guild Wars >.>;;

so to summarize: She is a bad representation. Her weapons, outfit, and looks do not match her supposed origin, compared to the other asian characters like Mitsurugi, Taki, Xianghua, etc.

The grossly underpowered thing is something i can let go since shes a teeny tiny girl and i know how that feels like. T_T

You're talking about a game where everyone's trying to chase after or get hold of some massively powerful God sword and you're concerned about the clothes? I personally would be more concerned about the fact taht astaroth's a gigantic beast of a living thing, and that there's a lizardman...or christ just look at some of the shit Voldo pulls off! And we don't like Talim because of her clothes?!!

Nah, not a big deal to me, just figured I'd be a smartass or something. Cervantes still rocks.
